Jewelry beyond gems

It was getting a little dark when I got home today, as there were thunderstorms brewing, but I couldn’t resist a few shots of this jewel beetle even though in low light I couldn’t get the depth of focus I wanted and the macro ring light was scaring it.  Even for those of you who don’t like insects must admit this is beautiful and since the colours are not solely from pigments but come from light interference effects related to soap bubble colours, you get these incredible rainbow effects.
